The Early Artistic Inspiration of Leticia Herrera

Art surrounded Leticia Herrera from an early age. Her passion for creativity began during childhood, inspired by her uncle, the renowned Spanish painter José Morales.

Although she explored different artistic mediums throughout her younger years, Herrera always felt a strong connection to creating art. She later moved to the United States to pursue formal education at Louisiana State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design in 1992.

After completing her studies, Herrera returned to Mexico and began a successful career as Creative Director for Avon Mexico. While working in design during the day, she continued developing her personal artistic vision in her home studio.

From Design to Fine Art

As Herrera’s artwork evolved, she discovered a powerful relationship between color, emotion, and personal expression. In 1996, she made the decision to dedicate herself fully to painting.

She continued her artistic development under the guidance of renowned Spanish painter Santiago Carbonell. During her first solo exhibition, Acercamientos Íntimos, at the Regional Museum of Querétaro in Mexico, Herrera explored the human figure while beginning to develop the vibrant color language that would become a defining element of her work.

Following this exhibition, Herrera presented additional shows at museums in Mexico. Over time, her artistic style moved beyond traditional representation and developed into a more abstract exploration of identity and emotion.
