Daria Kropacheva

Born in 1989 in the city of Bender, Moldova, I graduated from the Bender Art College in 2008. Subsequently, I relocated to the capital of Moldova, where I completed my studies at the Academy of Art in easel painting, graduating in 2012.

I continued my academic journey by enrolling in the magistracy, from which I graduated with honors in 2015. My engagement in academic pursuits inspires me to reflect on contemporary art and the manner in which I wish to communicate with a modern audience. I began to explore various artistic directions and techniques, ultimately realizing my affinity for realism and symbolism. In 2016, I had my inaugural experience of visiting Europe, specifically Rome. This journey left a profound impression on me, as the antique and Renaissance, alongside Baroque masterpieces, significantly influenced my artistic vision.

I actively engage in the realms of realism and symbolism and have developed a fascination with the portrayal of nudity in my work. I diligently study anatomy in motion, focusing on the dynamics and plasticity of the human body. The nude figure in my paintings serves as an intimate dialogue with the viewer, akin to a tête-à-tête—free of masks and clothing. This approach aims to convey an individual’s exposed inner state or emotion. When addressing social themes, I choose to dress my subjects.

The recurring themes in my artwork frequently revolve around human emotions and actions, which I personify, or I embody inanimate objects. For instance, I may represent a thirst for life or the earth’s crust in the form of female figures. My symbolism is rooted in personal associations; for example, I perceive pearls as a representation of time, while dragonflies embody ideas.

I tackle subjects that resonate with me and invite the audience to contemplate these themes from a distinctive perspective. Each of my paintings serves as an ellipsis, encouraging spectators to contribute their own concluding thoughts to the narrative evoked by the artwork.
