Sophistication and whimsy. Color and restraint. Ellen Moershel and Wendy Westlake – these two very different American artists delight us with their unique visions of shape and color.

Ellen’s concept involves both a minimalistic and maximalist approach. Incorporating large areas of negative space using her white canvas with areas of highly saturated colors that can be highly detailed. She is influenced by post-impressionist techniques as well the Japanese Edo period. Wendy’s approach is more influenced by the techniques of Abstract Impressionism indicative of American painters. Her expertise as a watercolorist has allowed her to experiment on canvas with color and form in more spontaneous manner.
